Shortly after its release, he went from starring in \"The Saint\" B-pictures to working with Alfred Hitchcock at the Master of Suspense request (Sanders would have supporting roles in both \u003ci\u003eRebecca\u003c\/i\u003e and \u003ci\u003eForeign Correspondent\u003c\/i\u003e.) The National Council for the Prevention of War initially opposed \u003ci\u003eNurse Edith Cavell\u003c\/i\u003e's release, worrying that it would be seen as hostile to Germany. Ironically, Germany invaded Poland a week after the film's November 1939 premiere, starting World War II.
