Captains of the Clouds (Blu-ray)

Enjoyable and engaging, though maybe I was expecting more knowing Michael Curtiz was at the director’s helm.

The movie holds your attention. And Cagney does a great job in his role, though maybe a little too obnoxious on occasion. But it’s the friendship between his character and that of Dennis Morgan’s that keep this movie afloat. Brenda Marshall does a good job at playing the bad girl.

I think the problem is it’s a story that’s been done before, and done better too. I much prefer Frank Capra’s Submarine which is fairly similar in plot line with regards to the love triangle, but in my opinion far superior.

That said, it is a good movie and an enjoyable way to spend an evening or afternoon.
