In the 1830's, Chicago's lakefront was declared public ground, to remain forever open, clear and free of any buildings. Take a tour with Geoffrey Baer to discover the historic and ongoing struggles and victories that helped shape what we see along the shores of Chicago today. Along this unforgettable journey, learn about the redesign of Soldier Field; see the new modern wing at the Art Institute; discover how Millennium Park became what it is today and explore Daniel Burnham's 1909 "Plan of Chicago," which helped make Chicago's lakefront one of the most magnificent in the country.
