Country Gentlemen (The Film Detective Restored Version)

The vaudeville team of Olson and Johnson embark on a shady moneymaking scheme in this delightful 1936 comedy from Republic Pictures. Selling worthless stock to gullible small town citizens gets these two con men nothing but a room behind bars, though they eventually learn to rely on the kindness of the very people they'd been swindling. Director Ralph Staub guides a cast that includes Lila Lee as a retired film queen, as well as the always funny Joyce Compton.
