Dastardly & Muttley in Their Flying Machines: The Complete Series (Blu-ray)

By 1969, as networks scrubbed TV of superhero violence, Bill Hanna welcomed a return to pure comedy: "We as a studio have always been specialists in comedy and satire..." He noted their techniques had evolved beyond early static TV animation, explaining, "In the beginning, we would put a character into the pose and animate the mouth only. Now we animate the entire head." Dastardly and Muttley in Their Flying Machines put that extra expressiveness to work, delivering aerial slapstick that, as Ted Sennett wrote in The Art of Hanna-Barbera, "contained inspired sequences equal to any live-action comedy." Warner Archive’s 1080p Blu-ray rescues the series from muted '90s tape masters; sourced directly from fresh 4K scans of the original 35mm camera negatives, it restores razor-sharp ink lines, vivid cel pigments, and balanced color, making it an essential upgrade for collectors.
