It Happened on 5th Avenue – Blu-ray

I only did this movie about 6 years ago, but now it has become one of my all time holiday favourites.

I didn’t think the premise would work or appeal to me. I mean the main character is basically a squatter who decides to take up winter residence in the fifth avenue mansion of millionaire Michael O’Connor. But the story works beautifully, mainly due to the character development and excellent, stand out performance of Victor Moore as the homeless hobo, Aloysius T. McKeever. The whole cast does a great job, with another stand out being that of Charles Ruggles, playing the role of millionaire O’Connor, who ends up playing a homeless man too at the bequest of his daughter, in order to take up residence in his own home. A lot of the comedy comes from the dynamics between the two. However this is a movie with great heart and one you would never see made these days.

The film has never looked better. The blu ray quality is tops!

Highly recommended! Heart-warming holiday viewing.
