Rescue at Dongji

In 1942, the Japanese transport ship Lisbon Maru was secretly carrying over 1,800 British POWs when it was torpedoed by an American submarine, unaware of its human cargo. As the vessel sank, chaos erupted, and hundreds were left to drown. A group of courageous Dongji fishermen rescued over 300 soldiers, but when Japanese troops returned, the villagers risked everything to hide and protect three British servicemen during the brutal search for survivors.
