Two very popular film series highlight Mickey Rooney's childhood career: Mickey McGuire's Gang (1927-1933) and Andy Hardy (1940s). He starred in several important movies during the 1930s, including A Midsummer Night's Dream (1935), A Family Affair (1937), Boys Town (1939) and Babes in Arms (1939). The talented actor is also fondly remembered for his role in National Velvet (1944) opposite a young Elizabeth Taylor.
