Robert Mitchum solidified his tough-guy persona In this archetypal film noir directed with memorable style by Jacques Tourneur (Cat People). He plays Jeff Bailey, a one-time private investigator walking the straight and narrow of small-town life...until an acquaintance from his past pulls him back into the troubles he'd left behind. "Build my gallows high, baby," Bailey sneers as events stack up against him. With dialogue like that and much more, OUT OF THE PAST builds its reputation high.

Classic Film Noir From The 1940's Gets The Royal Treatment 4K From Warner Archive

Out Of The Past is classic 1940's film noir at its very best. Starring Robert Mitcham in one of his greatest screen performances, he plays a private eye trying to escape his past by running a gas station in a small town. That is, until his past catches up with him. Boasting exquisitely moody cinematography from Nicholas Musuraca, Out Of The Past looks absolutely wonderful on 4K. The black and white cinematography looks flawless and the sound quality is simply superb. This release comes with a collectable slip case and includes a bluray disc as well (4K & bluray combo). Warner Archive has done a superb job with this restoration. Another fantastic release from Warner Archive. I cannot praise this release enough. This is a MUST OWN!!!!

Excellent Release of an Outstanding Film

This 4K release improves upon the excellent Warner Archive Blu-ray from a few years ago. There seems to be some grain management but it's not egregious. It's still film like in appearance and makes for a great viewing experience. One of my favourite releases of the year.
