Director Charles Lamont was better known for directing slapstick comedies, but with August Weekend he shows a lighter touch. It's about a high-society dinner party where a wealthy married man is in pursuit of a beautiful young woman. Meanwhile, a younger and not-so-wealthy man is in love with her.
