Bells of Rosarita

THE GREATEST CAST OF WESTERN STARS EVER ON THE SCREEN!!! Sue Farnum's car is run off the road by a gun toting band of outlaws racing after a stagecoach. Actually its none other than cowboy movie star Roy Rogers and a film crew shooting a new movie, Bells of Rosarita. Roy apologizes and he and Sue strike up a friendship. Sue reveals that her late father's partner, Bill Ripley is planning to steal her inheritance - her dad's ranch and traveling circus. To stop Ripley and his thugs, Roy will need to recruit an all-star posse. Thundering to the rescue are Wild Bill Elliot, Allan Lane, Donald Barry, Robert Livingston and Sunset Carson!

The line between "real" and "cinema" is delightfully blurred in this big-budget western classic. Audiences loved the thrilling climax depicting movie star cowboys chasing down "real" outlaws armed only with "blanks." The studio repeated this novel approach most notably with Roy Rogers once again in Trail of Robin Hood (1950).
