    Riveting Sea-Going Drama

    Great ensemble acting and the feel of being aboard a 19th Century ship at sea make this essential viewing. The great Peter Ustinov directed and stars as the conflicted captain of troubled voyage. As the villain, Robert Ryan couldn't be better, even if he keeps his American accent among all the Brits. This was Terence Stamp's movie debut and he's perfect for the part of Billy Budd, the beloved ship-mate trapped by bad luck and British Navy Code. Wide-screen black & white pulls a viewer into the story to make it all really memorable.

    Great movie!

    Blind buy for me. First time seeing the film. Finally decided to buy after learning it is from a Herman Melville story. I liked the movie Moby Dick that Gregory Peck was in. I thought I'd give Billy Budd a try and I liked this movie also. The quality of the blu ray is in keeping with Warner Archive Collection standards which is exceptional.
