In 1987, Peggy Hettrick was found in a field stabbed in the back and sexually mutilated. A bloody 103-foot drag trail crossed the snow. 15-year-old Timothy Masters lived in a trailer nearby, where police found knives and sexually violent drawings and writings--but no hard evidence linked him to the murder. When detectives reopened the case, a forensic psychologist declared Masters' fantasy world and the crime scene similar enough for him to be responsible. In 1999, Masters finally stood trial.
