They were trained in specialized combat and sent on the most dangerous missions. They paved the way for some of the most dramatic German victories of World War II and introduced new tactics, strategies and even whole new ways of warfare to the world. Ultimately, however, they were not enough to propel their nefarious master to victory. From the Waffen SS to the Elite Mountain Division, this program examines the training, tactics and battle history of the special German combat forces. See footage of them in action and get an inside look at life in their ranks from former Nazi soldiers. And find out how the developments they pioneered have since become commonplace for armies worldwide.
