Cowboy screen legend Harry Carey first appeared as "Cheyenne" Harry Morgan in a series of hit 1917-1919 Universal westerns by director John Ford. Along with Hopalong Cassidy, this soft-spoken and rugged hero was unique in the Wild West movie genre for actually wearing a black hat! During the 1930s, Carey enlivened such classics as Trader Horn (1931) and Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939), but this exciting western shows him at his galloping best. Watching Harry Carey in action makes you realize why the Bronx-born actor was such a major influence on John Wayne.
