Ken Maynard Double Feature: Pocatello Kid (1937) / Branded Men (1931)

Pocatello Kid (1937, B&W): Ken Maynard plays a dual role as twins Ken and Jim Bledsoe. Jim is a cruel and crooked sheriff who takes his orders from cattle rustler Pete Larkin. Ken, also known as "The Pocatello Kid," has just escaped from prison and is shot by a posse trailing him. The Kid rides wounded into town to get help from his brother, but before Ken can find him, Jim is shot dead in a gambling dispute. Seeing a timely opportunity, Larkin blackmails Ken into assuming the murdered sheriff's identity. Along with his brother's badge, Ken also inherits a fiancee - Larkin's beautiful daughter, Mary. Inspired by Mary's decent heart, Ken vows to rid the range of rustlers, a promise that puts him on a collision course with Larkin and his gang.

Branded Men (1931, B&W): Cowboy Rod and his pals have their horses stolen as they ride toward the lawless town of Steep Gulch. Looking for a sheriff so he can file a complaint, he soon learns that being a lawman in Steep Gulch is a shortcut to an early grave. In need of cash and undaunted by the violent reputation of the locals, Rod volunteers to fill the vacant sheriff's post. In no time at all, he runs afoul of a corrupt gang of outlaws who maintain control by murdering every man who puts on a badge.
