W.C. Fields plays the President of Klopstokia, a bankrupt European country that makes a bid for fame and fortune by entering its top athletes in the 1932 Summer Games in Los Angeles. Directed by Edward Cline (The Bank Dick, 1940) and co-written by Joseph L. Mankiewicz (All About Eve, 1950), this madcap, Pre-Code comedy is one of W.C. Fields's most anarchic satires and includes scene stealing performances by comic character actors Jack Oakie, Billy Gilbert, Hugh Herbert and Ben Turpin.

Being an early thirties comedy, I wasn’t expecting much. It’s great. . The jokes come at a fast pace and are very funny. I’m so glad I bought it.

Great to see this make it to Blu-ray

This film has been hard to find on any physicial format. Great to see it finally make it to blu-ray. Fields is in what is almost a supporting role but shines whenever he is on the screen. I'm sure that a lot of people will want this one because it co-stars Susan Fleming who would later become Mrs. Harpo Marx.

Happy to have this on Blu-ray

The movie itself is almost like a prototype for Duck Soup - Paramount movies of the 30s weren’t afraid to be zany and weird. It’s a good, film-like transfer of an imperfect element, and I’m very satisfied with it.
