I really wanna give it 4.5 stars

Few of innovative director Roland West's films survive, but they are all worth a look or more. They often are located at the intersection of surrealism, German Expressionism, photo-Noir, and slapstick comedy-horror tonal fun. The Monster is a 1925 silent with music that puts us in someone's dream set in an old-dark sanitarium run by mad scientist Dr.Ziska played by Lon Chaney. Chaney's screen presence is welcome, but the lead is played by Johnny Arthur, a sissy-adjacent actor, who is a very enjoyable and believable character. For a 100-year-old film, this show really moves.
