The lovely Evelyn Venable, star of My Old Kentucky Home, is remembered as Frederic March's love interest in Death Takes a Holiday (1934), Shirley Temple's mother in The Little Colonel (1935) and the voice of the Blue Fairy in Pinocchio (1940). Clara Blandick is instantly recognizable as Aunt Em from The Wizard of Oz (1939). My Old Kentucky Home garnered a great deal of critical acclaim upon its release, with reviewers praising the renditions of Stephen Foster songs by the Hall Johnson Choir. A popular all-black choral group, they also appeared on the soundtracks of Lost Horizon (1937) and Song of the South (1946).
Due to the age and rarity of this film, some picture and sound anomalies do exist.
