Ten dollars a pound is the going rate for freight, so charter pilot Steve Collins figures he's owed $1,150, cash on delivery. His cargo is Joan Winfield, an heiress whose elopement with a musician is kiboshed when Steve kidnaps her so he can fly Joan to her irate father. But then Joan finds a parachute. Comedy comes from a mother lode of sources in the screwball farce headline by the ebullient pairing of James Cagney and Bette Davis, scripted by Julius J. and Philip G. Epstein.

    Cagney and Davis together!

    Warners 1941 comedy “The Bride Came C.O.D.” tries its best to be what used to be called in the press “a Laff-Riot” but doesn’t really succeed. Directed by the usually sharp and snappy William Keighley, Bette and Jimmy struggle to inject humour into the scenario.A good supporting cast including Jack Carson, Eugene Pallette, George Tobias and Harry Davenport bolster up the sagging plot line well and the music by Maestro Max Steiner does its job well. Comes under the heading of”could do better”!

    A Fun Comedy From The Great Bette Davis

    It's great that Warner Archive chose to restore this movie. It's one of Bette Davis's more unusual movies, given that it's a comedy. She works well with James Cagney and the movie is a really fun romp. The audio and visual quality is superb. Definitely worth the upgrade from the previously released DVD. Highly recommended.

    Hidden Gem! Great Movie!
