The Equality Act Passes

The House debated and approved (224-206) the Equality Act, which would add LGBTQ anti-discrimination protections to the Civil Rights Act. Three Republicans voted in favor of the measure. Members continued work on a bill to increase protected wilderness and scenic river areas in California, Colorado, and Washington state. The bill would also permanently ban new oil and mining claims on federal land around the Grand Canyon.
